Fontana FORMIELLO Frègula Sarda is a special variety of tiny round shaped pasta with a nutty flavour and a distinctive golden colour. Resembling Arabic couscous, frègula was introduced to Sardinia by navigators from North Africa and become part of the local cuisine. Fontana FORMIELLO frègula is made in Sardinia according to traditional methods and using high quality durum wheat semolina and water. This pasta is shaped through bronze dies, slow-dried and is lightly toasted. This process gives frègula a light brown colour and toasty flavour. Deliciously “al dente” after cooking, it is perfect for soups, with meat broth and in seafood dishes with clams and shrimps.
